Never Miss a Post!

Sweet Lalaloopsy Costume

The temperature has finally dropped here in Las Vegas, which is about time since Halloween is a mere three days away! As every year passes, my daughter, Anabelle, becomes more and more excited about her costume and going trick-or-treating, which also means I have less and less say as far as the theme goes!  Last  year, she dressed up as Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. We had a fun time doing a mini photo shoot at one of our local Tiffany & Co. stores and were even so fortunate to have received a gift from them!

This year, we began brainstorming ideas and my Lalaloopsy-obsessed kiddo decided early on that she wanted to be one of the ever-so-popular little rag dolls this year. Throughout the years, I have vacillated between homemade and store-bought costumes, but regardless of the choice, I always like to add a little DIY element to it. My daughter picked the little baker character named Crumbs Sugar Cookie and since I don’t sew, we found a super cute Lalaloopsy costume on-line at Celebrate Express. I was really impressed with the quality of the dress, as well as the wig, which can often be a nightmare! The costume didn’t come with shoes, but I was fortunate to find a tutorial to transform rain boots into the perfect Lalaloopsy footwear from the blog christhingsss and it worked perfectly!

As we did last Halloween, we put together a little photo shoot over the weekend to capture the sweetness of this year’s costume. Over the years, I have learned that these miniature photo sessions have not only aided in creating souvenirs, but also made it easier to enjoy Halloween and trick-or-treating without worrying about getting good pictures, especially in the dark! We transformed the little lemonade stand that I purchased from Joann Fabric and Craft stores a few years back {which has gotten a lot of use lately in our Vintage Hawaiian Luau and Let Me Take You to Rio parties earlier this year} into a bakery stand. We also included the little oven from our Pottery Barn Kids’ kitchen set {also seen in our Baked with Love party} to set the scene. Along with some of her favorite Lalaloopsy toys, my little ham… I mean, doll… said it was one of her favorite costumes and shoots ever!

Along with trick-or-treating on Halloween, we are also decorating our car for a Trunk-or-Treat event at my daughter’s school this week! I’ve never participated in this type of event in the past, so I was thankful for the decorating tips generously offered by Mariah at Giggles Galore! Anabelle decided she wanted our trunk to resemble scenes from the classic Halloween cartoon “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown”, so I’ll be sharing the pictures of how it all turned out soon! {check it out here!}

And for additional tips for taking fun Halloween photos, check out the informative post by my sweet friend, Jenny Dixon of Craft That Party featured on the ediTORIal blog!

Are you done with this year’s Halloween costumes yet?! ♥

Merci Beaucoup!
