Never Miss a Post!

Last Day of School: Peace Out First Grade!

June 11, 2014 By Lynlee

School’s out for Summer!!!

Just like my daughter, Anabelle, I have been looking forward to the last day of school for quite awhile now! And yes, we did just return from a trip to Disneyland, as we played hookie for a few days, but I’m so ready for late night sleep-ins, lazy days at the pool and our annual trips to visit family in California… oh, and maybe a little work thrown in there, too. 😉

Since the start of Kindergarten, we started an annual tradition {ummm, yes, it’s only been two years, but you have to start somewhere!} to take a picture on the first and last days of school with little chalkboard signs I made to record the dates. The first day of school shows what she wants to be when she grows up at that moment in time, and the last day documents her favorite parts of the school year. I just love the side-by-side comparison and how it visually demonstrates how much of a difference one school year makes. It seems like just yesterday we were prepping for the start of Kindergarten with a Too Cool for School fashion show!

First & Last Days of School

Even though Teacher Appreciation Week was just last month, we wanted to thank my daughter’s 1st grade teacher for all her hard work and support this past year. While taking my weekly stroll through our local Target {and yes, I’m pretending I only go there once a week!}, I fell in love with the fun and bright colors of the new Summer Lemonade Stand serveware collection. I quickly put together a little bucket gift and added these adorable hand tongs found in the “dollar bin” section. Paired with a cute little tag and ribbon, it turned out to be a super cute last day of school gift!

End of Year Teacher Gift

As if the last day of school isn’t fun enough, I decided to surprise Anabelle with a little gift at pick-up to celebrate the occasion. Ever since it’s warmed up here in Vegas, she’s been riding her bike and scooter, but she’s finally outgrown her princess helmet she’s had for several years. The same trip to Target included more fun finds from the dollar bin {bucket, bubbles and Summer coloring project} and a brand-spankin’ new sparkly helmet! I topped it off with a little tag I created with clip art from JW Illustrations and Maree Truelove. Can’t wait to give it to her… and head to our first Summer outing for some shaved ice!
