I cannot believe it’s already May! Seriously… where does the time go?! Especially with all the traveling I’ve been doing lately with the Sweet Book Tour, it seems like I’m losing track of time and then May just sneaked up on me! But since it is May, it must mean that Cinco de Mayo is almost upon us. Though many people mistakenly refer to this day as the Mexican Independence Day, it is actually a remembrance of Mexico’s defeat over the French army back in 1862. With that being said, in many places, especially the US, the holiday has morphed into a more celebratory event… and another reason to party!
So what better way to celebrate than with these festive Cinco de Mayo cupcakes, included in my book Sweet & Unique Cupcake Toppers ?! Okay, so some might argue that commemorating with a bit of alcohol is a large part of the fun, so why not combine these festive fondant toppers with some liquor-infused confections, such as these margarita cupcakes featured on cupcakes and cashmere from Trophy Cupcakes’ new book, Cupcakes & Parties!
Though the tutorials included in my book, head over to the Craftsy blog to get the free step-by-step instructions to make your own Cinco de Mayo cupcakes for this year’s fiesta celebration!
For additional Mexican-inspired party ideas, be sure to check out the amazing Skippyjon Jones Four-esta Party by my incredibly talented friend, Brittany of GreyGrey Designs! Besides talking about this fabulous tiered sombrero stand she made to hold cupcakes and the fondant toppers I made for her, you just HAVE to check out the incredible taco shell banner she made for her backdrop!!!
Hope your Cinco de Mayo festivities are extra sweet this year!
Merci Beaucoup!
