If you’ve been following along on our sweet adventures, you know that our family adores all things tropical and Hawaiian! Since my husband is a surfer and has a birthday in the month of December, we threw him a Mele Kalikimaka party a few years back, portraying traditional Christmas elements, such as Santa, gingerbread men and penguins in a tropical setting.
And after vacationing on the island of Oahu this past Spring, as we introduced Hawaii and its culture for the first time to my daughter, she decided she wanted a Hawaiian-themed Luau party to celebrate her 6th birthday! We even brought back Hawaiian Host chocolates from our trip to pass out to guests!
With all the craziness of the holidays, I always look for sweet and simple dessert ideas to serve my family, as well as share as gifts with friends, neighbors, classrooms, etc. This season, this recipe for Whole Macadamia White Chocolate Crunch from Hawaiian Host was the perfect choice, especially with our love of all things aloha! Taking a favorite and time-honored cereal treat and giving it a Hawaiian twist, these dessert bars are so simple to make, yet incredibly nutty and delicious!
Though Hawaiian Host products are found in many stores nationwide, I visited my local Ranch 99 store and found White Chocolate Whole Macadamias for this recipe. Follow these quick and easy instructions for these mouth-watering treats to wish your loved ones a Mele Kalikimaka this holiday season! Ingredients:
- 7 oz. {18 pieces} Hawaiian Host Whole Macadamia White Chocolates
- 1 cup Rice Krispies cereal
- 1 cup mini marshmallows
- 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
Instructions:
1. Melt Hawaiian Host White Chocolate in microwave oven in 4 quart casserole at 70 percent power for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring periodically, until melted.
2. Stir in creamy peanut butter.
3. Add both Rice Krispies and mini marshmallows, and stir.
4. Pour into butter 8 x 8 square pan or dish. I smoothed out the surface so I could add fondant toppers once cooled, but there is no need if you are serving them as is!
5. When firm, cut into squares or desired shape. I utilized a round metal cutter to punch out circles.
The addition of the white chocolate, macadamias and peanut butter to this popular treat transform them into heavenly deliciousness! And, of course, I had to add some fondant hula penguins to my presentation, wishing my friends and family Happy Huladays!
