Never Miss a Post!

Are We There Yet?!

June 10, 2015 By Lynlee

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. As always, all opinions are mine alone! #FueltheLove #CollectiveBias

Family Road Trip tradition

If your life is anything like mine, the wish for things to slow down between work, kids, school, appointments and activities rarely comes to fruition! By the end of the day, I am often left feeling like there was simply not enough time to accomplish everything on my to do list. Sound familiar?! Though many schools around the country have already been out for vacation for days or maybe even weeks, my daughter’s last day of school is actually {finally} TODAY! So, on top of finishing work and meeting deadlines, I’ve had to prep for the end of school with teacher gifts and party supplies, while also getting ready for my daughter’s swim meet this weekend and our annual Summer road trip!!!

Ever since my family and I moved to Las Vegas, we have taken advantage of the fact that my husband is a teacher and gets the Summers off by taking a road trip to California to visit our friends and family every single year. And since my parents are in town and offer to house and pet sit while we’re gone, we can go for longer stretches and less worries! We’ve been doing it since my daughter, Anabelle, was born, so we’re fortunate that she is so used long car rides that she never complains. As a matter of fact, I think my husband will attest to the fact that I’m the one usually asking, Are we there yet?! But I truly do cherish these annual trips that allow us to connect face-to-face with our loved ones who live many miles away and give us the opportunity to bond with their growing families! These adventures are what memories are made of and I hope to continue this tradition for years and years to come!

Road trip nature

We start our journey every year from Las Vegas, Nevada and make various stops in both Northern and Southern California, often driving through small, remote towns in both states. Coming from the desert, it’s always such a treat to play at the beach and enjoy all the gorgeous trees we’re not used to seeing! And since we put so many miles on our cars in various climates and locations, we always make sure that part of the prep for our trips includes making sure the car is running well to avoid any issues on the road. Since our weekend is going to be super busy with Anabelle’s swim meet, birthday parties and an early Father’s Day celebration, I knew I wouldn’t have much time to get the car checked before our trip. So, I decided to multi-task by dropping it off at our local Walmart Automotive Care Center to get the oil changed while I shopped for supplies for our road trip! I can’t even begin to tell you how much nicer it is that I can shop while the car is getting worked on, rather than having to sit around and wait at a car shop!

Pennzoil at Walmart Auto Center

Not only does having the oil changed at Walmart allow me to get my shopping done and cross off items on my to do list {that’s the best feeling, isn’t it?!}, but I especially prefer going there because they offer the Pennzoil brand. We would always opt specifically for Pennzoil’s High Mileage Vehicle oil since both of our cars had almost 200,000 miles on them {see, I told you we drive A LOT!}. We could trust that it would help to avoid leaks and keep the engine running clean to lessen our worries, expressly on our long trips in isolated stretches of road, because Pennzoil is allows us to drive an extra 550 miles per year vs. our old engines if we did not keep them up.

Pennzoil at Walmart

Since our last trip, we got a NEW car which we are super excited to take on our first long drive! That being said, we were taken by surprise the first time we had to get its oil changed and were told it required synthetic oil, which the dealer communicated was a much higher price! Eek! I was SO relieved to find out that Pennzoil also offered its Platinum Full Synthetic oil at a much lower cost than the industry standard! Plus, due to Pennzoil’s free warranty covering various engine parts that may fail due to excessive wear, it provides us extra peace of mind. We know that even if we are far from home, we are covered!

Road trip packing

Now that the car’s all set to go and my shopping list is taken care of, I feel a lot less stressed and much more prepared to leave on our road trip! Plus, I found out that starting today through September 9th, Pennzoil oil changes will be on Rollback at Walmart Automotive Care Center stores, so once we return, I’ll be taking our high mileage car in as well! Here are the details:

♥ High Mileage $35.88, compared to the regular Walmart price of $39.88.

{Industry standard price is $46}

♥ Platinum Full Synthetic $45.88, compared to the regular Walmart price of $49.88.

{Industry standard price is $66}

Annual road trip

What are your family’s Summer traditions?!

Merci Beaucoup!

    Wow…you guys do travel a lot! Both cars have almost 200,000 miles? That sounds like a lot of awesome road trips! We have some roadtrips planned to Vermont and Massachusetts this summer, so I anticipate needing some oil changes over here. Thanks for sharing! #client
