The Mexican tradition of remembering and honoring those who have been lost, referred to as the Day of the Dead or Dia de los Muertos, is taking place in the next few days. A few weeks ago, I shared a dessert table I styled in honor of the release of the new animated movie The Book of Life {in conjunction with Cost Plus World Market} inspired by the film’s gorgeous and vibrant graphics and characters, along with recognizable elements of the cultural celebration. My daughter, Anabelle, and I finally made it to the drive-in last night to watch the movie and it was as cute and beautiful as promised!
One of the most iconic symbols of the Dia de los Muertos celebration is the sugar skull. There was such a great response to the sugar skull fondant topper I made for the styled table that I decided to share a tutorial to recreate it on the Craftsy blog! Head on over to get the full step-by-step tutorial for the Day of the Dead fondant topper for your own memorial celebration, as you hold the loved ones you have lost near and dear to your hearts.
Merci Beaucoup!
