Never Miss a Post!

Doin’ it Big in NYC!

March 13, 2012 By Lynlee

In April of 2011, I was so incredibly honored to be named a “Doer of the Week” on Martha Stewart’s Dreamers into Doers community, created to inspire and and help women achieve their dreams! Does the picture look familiar?! At the end of the year, the opportunity arose to enter my name for a potential invite to the annual event to take place in 2012 and in January, I was thrilled to receive the official invitation!
This past week, I made my way to New York City to attend the event at the Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia offices, including a taping of The Martha Stewart Show, presentations by some amazingly inspirational people and a chance to meet some of THE most talented and brilliant women!
First on the agenda was a taping of The Martha Stewart Show, which was such a fun experience to be part of the studio audience and witness all the behind-the-scenes action! If offered, I would willingly and gladly move my stuff to live at the gorgeous set!
My sweet friend (and roommate for one night!), Cineca from Dreamin’ N Details, sat next to me as we honed our clapping and “oohing” and “aahing” skills throughout the show!
Martha herself was as fabulous as ever! And just look at those cake stands! Seriously, I might move in, even if not asked!
Back at the offices, we were spoiled by amazing breakfasts, lunches and most importantly, gorgeous sweets! We were so thankful to the entire team for putting together such a beautiful event both days!
Several guest speakers were present both days to provide an abundance of ideas, advice and inspiration. The folks at Deluxe sponsored the event and provided great information to assist small businesses and Karen Lee discussed the benefits of going “green” in business. Bryan Petroff and Douglas Quint, who founded the NY based Big Gay Ice Cream, were not only super entertaining, but also had very helpful tips regarding finding success with the use of social media.  We continued to learn a ton from more staff and highly respected editors of the different magazines, including Sara Carey from Everyday Food, and an exciting craft demonstration from the craft editor-at-large, Jodi Levine!
Not only were we provided with the opportunity to soak up all this valuable information from these successful and creative people, we were also able to meet, network and develop connections with the awe-inspiring attendees of the event. How extraordinarily fortunate I was to mingle with with such remarkable talents! I was so excited to finally meet friends I had made on-line in person (as if we had been internet dating and were anxious for our real first date!), as well as make new ones! A large part of these ladies were “party girls” that I have admired and actually worked with… from afar! So excited to leave with so many new friendships!

Me, Melissa {Truly Chic Inspirations} and Cineca {Dreamin’ N Details}
Maylene {Malu Boutiques}, Cineca {Dreamin’ N Details}, Holly {Paisley Petal Events} and Linda {Frog Prince Cake & Cookie Design}
Ebony {Sparkling Events & Design}, me and Michele {Intrigue Design Studio ~ who designed this very blog!}
Janet {Sweet Temptations}, Gemma {BrainFry Concepts}, Sarah {Dreamers Joy Events & Design}, Jen {Banner Events}, Sachiko {mimicafe Union}

Although I unfortunately don’t have photos to share, I also had an amazing time at the mix & mingle event put together by Gigi Page of Bouquets of Chocolate, as well as the dinner put together by some fab ladies for us out-of-towners: Khaliah of The Party Muse, Gemma of BrainFry Concepts, Vanessa of Vanessa Grant Events and Dawn of Bee’s Knees Parties! Merci beaucoup for your hospitality and an amazing time!Upon leaving the event, we were gifted with incredible swag bags, inclusive of goodies sent in from all the Doers themselves! How amazing to not only meet them all in person, but then to receive their works of art! Merci beaucoup to each and every one for sharing their work and generosity! Just look at this picture taken by my friend, Linda of Frog Prince Cake & Cookie Design!
Since I didn’t think it would be too beneficial or useful to just send in some fondant, I made a trip to the craft store to purchase some polymer clay and try my hand at it for the first time! I wanted to replicate the cupcake in my logo (or close to!) and also resemble fondant, so I ended up making little cupcake charms! Linda came up with the idea of selling these dessert charms and calling them “Lynlee’s Petite Bakes”! Hmmm…

I am truly so grateful for this entire experience! I cannot thank the Martha Stewart staff enough for all the work they put into organizing and executing the event and came home feeling so extremely supported, spoiled and inspired to keep on dreamin’ AND doin’!!! ♥

Merci Beaucoup!
