Halloween Mickey and Minnie Trunk-or-Treat

I can’t believe Hal­loween is only one week away!!! We are espe­cial­ly excit­ed for the hol­i­day this year, as we will be spend­ing it at Dis­ney­land for Mick­ey’s Hal­loween Par­ty! It is our very first time attend­ing this spe­cial event and are all ready with our cos­tumes, which we can’t wait to share! In the mean­time, we are prep­ping for a fun week with var­i­ous fes­tiv­i­ties at my daugh­ter’s school, includ­ing their annu­al trunk-or-treat. I’ve had so much fun com­ing up with themes and dec­o­ra­tions for dress­ing up our car the past cou­ple of years, from It’s the Great Pump­kin, Char­lie Brown to last year’s Night­mare Before Christ­mas! In brain­storm­ing ideas for this year’s motif, my daugh­ter, Anabelle and I came up with a Dis­ney theme in hon­or of our upcom­ing trip to The Hap­pi­est Place on Earth! Our focus was on a Mick­ey and Min­nie trunk-or-treat, of course!

I start­ed out by carv­ing some foam pump­kins to resem­ble Mick­ey and Min­nie, glu­ing small­er pump­kins for their ears. I made a fab­ric ban­ner with var­i­ous pat­terns in a orange, black, white and gold col­or palette and added HAPPY HALLOWEEN in the icon­ic Dis­ney font, cut from gold glit­ter card­stock with the help of my Cri­cut machine. I then added some mar­quee let­ters dec­o­rat­ed with glit­ter paper and added mouse ears to the “O“s. I lined the trunk with a beau­ti­ful black tulle table­cloth from Can­dy Crush Shop and placed all the decor over it, which worked perfectly!

Since I still had the ghosts from our Char­lie Brown trunk a cou­ple of years ago, I decid­ed it’d be fun to recy­cle one of them and make a Mick­ey ghost! The struc­ture of the ghost is made from rolled chick­en wire and felt fab­ric is draped over to cre­ate the ghost. I cut Mick­ey’s rec­og­niz­able fea­tures out of black felt and hot glued them, then fin­ished it off with some mouse ears. I love hav­ing these three-dimen­sion­al fig­ures out­side the car greet­ing the lit­tle trunk-or-treaters!

Anabelle mod­eled her absolute­ly adorable spi­der­web Min­nie ears, cus­tom-made by Be Ear Guest for our upcom­ing Hal­loween trip! I will def­i­nite­ly be wear­ing them as I hand out can­dy this week.

 

This was a super sim­ple theme to exe­cute, but extreme­ly cute and mag­i­cal for trick-or-treaters young and old!
